What Service Do I Need?
A basic tuning is the bare minimum of care your piano should receive every six months…
…but containing some 12,000 individual parts, a piano often needs more than just a tune-up.
Listed below are some other services that pianos commonly require.
You may need a PITCH CORRECTION if:
Your piano is more than 8% flat on average
Your piano sounds “off” from other instruments or recordings
Electronic practice aids don’t accurately interperet your pitch
You may need a CLEANING if:
There are large amounts of dust, debris or cobwebs inside your piano
The action is sluggish and requires lubrication
You may need REGULATION if:
Hammers are missing, misaligned, bobbling, double striking, or playing two notes at once
Keys don’t feel correctly weighted
You hear clicking or clacking noises while playing
Dampers are not working properly (notes ring longer than they should)
You may need VOICING if:
Your piano’s tone is harsh or uneven
Hammer felts are coming off, worn out, dirty/moldy or badly grooved by the strings
